Moon Salutations: One way I honor my divine feminine power for manifestation
In a world that idolizes constant action, logic, competition, and outward striving, the Moon Salutation (Chandra Namaskar) reminds us of the sacred power of the Divine Feminine and offers an opportunity to return to its receptive energy, stillness grace, creative powers and intuitive dreams and vision.
Unlike its fiery cousin, Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), which is energizing, warming and solar in nature, the Moon Salutation is a lunar, cooling, deep and introspective yoga sequence. It is a ritual that connects us with our emotions represented by the creative and magnetic energy of the moon, making it a powerful tool for manifestation, profound healing, and feminine energy embodiment.
In Yoga, the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine are archetypal energies that exist within all people, regardless of gender.
We have both masculine and feminine energies within us.
The "masculine" is the part of us that is mind-driven, logical, assertive, focused, competitive, strategic and that executes. The "feminine" is the part of us that is heart-driven, creative, nurturing, flexible, abundant, intuitive and that downloads ideas and gives direction.
When these energies are perfectly balanced within you, there is harmony between "doing" and "being" —our actions serve a purpose (you aren't just being busy for the sake of it) and our ideas are acted upon (you aren't just dreaming about them).
Therefore, you manifest our desired reality.
However, when imbalanced, issues arise.
Excess masculine energy may lead to aggression, scarcity mindset, rigidity, emotional shame, ego-driven competition, jealousy and burnout.
On the other hand, excess feminine energy may cause inaction, naivete, delusional thoughts, emotional overload, unpredictability, recklesness and chaos.
As a Pitta person, I can feel quite comfortable in my masculine energy. In a world that favors masculine energy, it wasn't a hard task and quite frankly, I underestimated my feminine energy until my early thirties.
I used to believe that feminine energy was an excuse people hid behind or some kind of consolation prize people held on because they were losing the game of life.
To be honest, I still believe that to be true —maybe because I also hid behind my feminine energy at was losing the game myself.
However, unlike before, I also strongly believe that feminine energy is also the powerful light that can guide us back into the game itself, at times when everything feels uncertain, lost and in the dark.
And That is the power of the feminine energy.
Unlike the Divine Masculine, the Divine Feminine doesn't need the external praises or competition to feel worthy or motivated. She is inward focused and knows she has intrinsic value —which can be very handy when you're lost in the dark and have no one to compete with.
Our feminine energy doesn't need inspiration —she is the inspiration, the muse that gives us direction, hope and trust. She is propelled into darkness to shine light, nurture and birth newness. She relies heavily on faith, isn't afraid of stillness and understands divine timing.
She simply knows that when the time is right, she will get the necessary input to create and birth the most authentic, ethereal and artistic creation that is so unique that no one can truly emulate.
Waking up to my feminine energy was one of the best things that has happened to me. It has opened me back to beauty, creativity and fun —and most importantly, it has gave me a rich inner-world guided by a north star that I won't be losing anytime soon.
One way I did it was by practicing Yin Yoga and working with the moon's energy. You can do that by honoring our moon cycle by crafting sacred period rituals, setting intentions on new moons or integrating Moon Salutation (Chandra Namaskar) into our Yoga practice —and that is what we are going to chat about today.
In this article, I am sharing how I personally integrate Moon Salutations to my Yoga practice, as a way to remind myself to honor and restore my feminine power for manifestation.
1. Moon Salutation Yoga Sequence For Manifestation
Here is one example of Moon Salutation yoga sequence for manifestation.
Unlike the famous Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar), Moon Salutation is a slow meditative lateral sequence that I practice to cool down, feel my emotions, ground my thoughts into stilness and release what no longer serves my highest purpose —pretty much like an active Yin Yoga flow.
I don't expect anything and let my flow unfold. Instead I focus on emulating the shapes and embodying each phase of the moon. I try to feel what the moon feels when she is alone in the darkness of the night, while the entire world is sleeping.
I reconnect with my cyclical nature, set intentions at each Mountain Pose I get into and release my intention with gratitude after I reach Yogi Squat.
I only repeat the sequence 1-3 times at a very slow pace, breathing deeply at each pose.
Here is the sequence I use:
- Mountain Pose (Tadasana): Stand tall, palms in prayer at our heart, set an intention, take as many breaths as you need
- Standing Side Bend to the Left (Ardha Kati Chandrasana): Stand tall, ams rise overhead, side stretch to the left (the left side is connected with our feminine side, Ida Nadi)
- Half moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana): Reach forward to the top of the mat for a block on tallest setting with our left hand , lift right leg into half moon, grounding strongly on our left foot active
- Goddess Pose (Utkata konasana): Thighs parallel to the ground, arms at 90 degrees, tuck tailbone in. Visualize our progress
- Star Pose (Utthita Tadasana): Stand tall, step feet apart, keep them straigth, extend arms straight
- Triangle Pose to the Left (Trikonasana): Lift our right hand up, the other hand sliding on left leg
- Pyramid to the Left Pose (Parsvottanasana): Two straight legs to the top of the mat, bend forward from the hip
- Left Crescent Lunge (Anjaneyasana): Lunge to the top of the mat, arms overhead, arching our back slightly
- Left Half Squat Pose (Skandasana): Stretch right leg to the side and side lunge to the left, hands in prayer at heart center
- Yogi Squat Pose (Malasana): Squat down hands at heart, express gratitude to ourselves and to the Universe and start releasing our intentions
- Right Half Squat Pose (Skandasana): Stretch left leg to the side and side lunge to the right, hands in prayer at heart center
- Right Crescent Lunge (Anjaneyasana): Lunge to the back of the mat, arms overhead, arching our back slightly
- Pyramid to the Right Pose (Parsvottanasana): Two straight legs to the back of the mat, bend forward from the hip
- Triangle Pose to the Right (Trikonasana): Open hip, lift our left hand up, the other hand sliding on the right leg
- Star Pose (Utthita Tadasana): Stand tall, step feet apat, keep them straight, extend arms straights
- Goddess Pose (Utkata konasana): Thighs parallel to the ground, arms at 90 degrees, tuck tailbone in. Release blocks and ego self and open ourselves to receive abundance.
- Half moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana): Reach forward to the back of the mat for a block on tallest setting with our right hand , lift left leg into half moon, grounding strongly on our right foot
- Standing Side Bend to the Right (Ardha Kati Chandrasana): Stand tall, ams rise overhead, side stretch to the right
- back to Mountain Pose (Tadasana): Repeat our intention again
2. Best time to do moon salutations for manifestation
For the past few months, I have been drawn to practicing Vinyasa Yoga almost everyday —which uses Sun Salutations as the flow of the practice.
To balance that out, I am working on progressively integrating Moon Salutations everyday at night, when the moon is out, before my bedtime Yoga routine (usually, Yin Yoga or Yoga Nidra) or meditation.
When I am practicing Yoga for Manifestation, I try my best to integrate a longer Moon Salutation flow to my practice before I set intentions on a New Moon, express gratitude on a Full Moon or a solar eclipse when the moon is at its peak —to honor the moon's presence and connect with its energy.
I think that it is also a great flow to practice a few days before our period, as a sacred period ritual or before we try to conceive a baby —as a way to connect deeply with our feminine energy.
I find the idea of flowing with our inner-moon or the celestial cycles through my body very romantic. I really connect with the symbolism, the energy and the spiritual meaning behind it. I can really feel like I am connecting with my feminine side.
But I also know that it can feel daunting to keep up with the phases sometimes.
To be honest, I believe that as long you stay authentic to our inner-desires, Moon Salutations can be practiced at any time.
At the end of the day, it is our pracice so do what feels best for our body —and you will certainly rip the benefits of Moon Salutations.
3. What to wear during moon salutations?
To me manifesting with feminine energy is about being present, listening to my inner-voice and flowing authentically.
Therefore, I like to wear something flowy that make me feel good, feminine, comfortable and something that is restrictive.
Unlike for Sun Salutations, I am going quite slow with Moon Salutations so I don't like to suit up in a tight pair of leggings and sport bra —which to me, feel more suitable for rigid practices where we don't want pieces that need frequent adjusting.
Moon Salutations are about supporting stillness, breathing and stretches, not to generate heat and build discipline.
When practicing Moon Salutations, my intentions are to open myself to possibilities and visions, to surrender to the unknown and to connect with the energy to attract the blessings that are divinely meant for me with —grace, humility and gratitude.
Best clothing options for Moon Salutations include:
- Soft harem pants
- Soft jogger pants
- Soft leggings
- Soft camisole or tank top
- Ballet wrap top
- Flowy athletic jumpsuit
- Cute pajamas

4. What to do before moon salutations?
The Divine Feminine energy is connected to her body and senses. She delights and plays with her environment.
In the Yoga Studio I go to, I noticed that my Yin Yoga teachers really understand this principle. Unlike in Vinyasa classes, we don't jump directly into the Yin Yoga practice.
Instead, my Yin teachers offer us
- essential oils to rub on our our wrists and chest
- oracle cards to pick from
- bath sounds from their crystal bowls
- meditation guidance
- journal prompts to ponder
All of these are great examples of how to invite feminine energy into our environment before a Yoga practice —which we can definitely do before a Moon Salutation flow.
5. What should you do after moon salutations?
After completing a sequence of Moon Salutations, it's important to take a few moments to rest and integrate the effects of our practice.
You can move into a calming posture like Corpse Pose (Savasana) or Easy Seated Pose (Sukhasana) to allow our body and mind to absorb the grounding, cooling energy cultivated during the flow.
Focus on our breath, letting it return to a natural rhythm, and observe any physical or emotional sensations that arise. This reflective pause helps balance the nervous system, deepens inner awareness, and transitions you gently from movement to stillness.
This meditative state is also good for connecting to our intuition and discover new soulful intentions you want to set next.
If you need more, to close our session, you may also choose to
- practice Yin Yoga or Recovery Yoga or Yoga Nidra
- journal our ideas, thoughts or express gratitude
- meditate or visualize our manifestation
- create a vision board
- sound bathe
- take a bubble bath
- practice our feminine self-care rituals
6. Conclusion
Moon Salutations are a beautiful way to connect with the Divine Feminine—inviting intuition, creativity, and emotional flow into our body and spirit.
However, for this energy to fully blossom in our life, it must feel safe, grounded, and supported. The moon's energy—and the visions, insights, and dreams it brings—need a container in which to grow (just like the masculine needs the feminine to connect with sacred inner-truth).
Just as water needs a vessel, the feminine needs the structure and discipline of the masculine to manifest into reality. Without this balance, inspiration may stay floating in the realm of potential.
Therefore, while you honor and awaken the feminine through Moon Salutations, remember to also nurture the sacred masculine within you—through discipline, clarity, and purposeful action. It is in the union of both energies that our fullest potential can be realized.
